Dexter. Well. Holy fuck.

December 15, 2009 at 9:36 am (TV shows)

How was that for a season finale?

If you’re not watching Dexter – you should start ASAP. TV Shows CANNOT get better than this.

PS… The ratings were through the roof. This was the most watched episode in Showtime history. Almost 3 times the audience of Californication’s season finale.

FlashForward @ AXN

November 16, 2009 at 11:03 am (TV shows)

The best new TV show of the year, FlashForward, is kicking off tonight, at AXN Romania. Make sure you tune in every Monday @ 23.00, it’s well worth it. Also, props to AXN for bringing it so damn early – the US premiere was less than 2 months ago.

10 + 5 series to watch this autumn

September 18, 2009 at 1:30 pm (TV shows)

The 2009-2010 TV season is officially under way. Many great new shows return, while some others hope to enter the fray in style. Here’s my list of what you should all watch this autumn.

Top Ten returning series

1. Dexter (season 4). This is a no-brainer for number 1. Hands down best show of last few years, and no signs of slowing down.

2. Fringe (season 2). Despite a few lackluster episodes, season 1 was rock-solid and ended on a superb note that might set up an impressive second season.

3. Curb Your Enthusiasm (season 7). Whether you like or hate Larry David, this season is a must, at least for the highly-anticipated Seinfeld reunion.

4. Family Guy (season 8). The Griffins are back. Need I say more?

5. Dollhouse (season 2). After a very slow start, season 1 picked up when it had to, ending with some memorable episodes. Hopefully Joss Whedon will know how to keep this one going in the right direction.

6. 30 Rock (season 4). Maybe the funniest comedy of the last few years. Bunches of awards, and despite the low ratings, NBC is doing a good job keeping this one on air. It’s well worth it.

7. Southland (season 2). A short first season that had some outstanding episodes and showed lots of promise.

8. The Office (season 6). How can you not like Steve Carrell? Well, you can’t. The Office is a must, every year.

9. Californication (season 3). Hopefully a return to form for the show, after a too unrealistic and sloppy second season.

10. Heroes (season 4). Bottom of the list, and, if I had other shows to recommend, it would have been off the list entirely. Bryan Fuller – again – left the show, so everything is set up for a return to disappointment.

* Some other returning shows, like Lost and 24, will only premiere in January 2010. That’s why they’re not on the list.

Top Five new series

1. FlashForward. The new Lost from ABC? Remains to be seen. The premise is intriguing (people all over the world dealing with the consequences of blacking out and seeing a glimpse of their future), the team behind it is equally impressive.

2. V. Another possible hit for ABC. A remake of an older SF drama. Expectations are high, especially after critics are raving about the pilot.

3.  Community. The trailer looks funny as hell. Could be a great addition to the amazing NBC lineup on Thursday nights.

4. Bored to Death. HBO shows are worth a look even when they don’t seem as impressive as this one. Great cast & great story for what could be an unexpected hit.

5.  The Cleveland Show. Although Cleveland isn’t my favorite character from Family Guy (duh), this new show should be fun. After all, if Seth MacFarlane is behind it, I’m in.

Entourage addict

July 29, 2009 at 10:56 am (TV shows)

I am officially an Entourage addict. You should be too. Why?

Well, for starters, because it’s an amazing show. Really interesting characters, superbly acted, and perfectly written. Once you get the first few episodes out of the way, you end up feeling like you know them personally. Last night, when James Cameron called Vince to offer him the lead role in his new movie, I was literally happy. And I don’t usually get really involved like this, but this show leaves me no choice.

Let’s see, what else. It’s a hilarious show, that welcomes you to the high-life world of a Hollywood star.  I don’t think there’s any movie or tv show out there that gets you closer to all the madness. Guest stars pop in every ten minutes, playing themselves.

I can’t believe this show has been going on for so long and I just discovered it.

If you don’t know it, check it out. You’re in for an amazing ride.

Quick tweets

July 3, 2009 at 7:47 am (Festivals, Games, haos, Movies, Music, TV shows)

– Luna Amara is playing an electric show this evening, in Fire Club. Be there.

– The new season of Weeds kicked off in spectacular fashion. First few episodes were great and really funny – unlike most season 4.

– Want something addictive? Try True Blood. If you tear it apart in little pieces and actually do some thinking, it’s a completely average show. But for some reason, I can’t stop watching.

– Transformers 2 wins my personal blockbuster of the year award. Seriously, go see it, but make sure you turn off your brain before it starts.

– Anybody want to join me at the Sitges Fantastic Film Festival in Barcelona, this October? Thought so.

– Kevin Smith is directing a thriller. Oh, the horror.

– 4 (four) days left until Tales of Monkey Island

Killer, indeed

June 20, 2009 at 6:05 pm (TV shows)

How cool is this promo poster for Dexter’s new season? Dexter is by far the only TV show that hasn’t disappointed at all so far – 3 great seasons, and if this poster is any indication, season 4 should be right up there with the others.

The summer of Fringe

May 15, 2009 at 10:21 am (TV shows)

Merita.

Imediat dupa ce mi-am exprimat nemultumirea fata de directia in care se indreapta South Park, show-ul a luat-o iar in sus. Ultimele 2 episoade au fost excelente, mai ales cel de saptamina asta. We even had an angry mob of Jewbots!

Dexter, la ProTV!

March 29, 2009 at 9:49 am (TV shows, YouTube)

The Penguins are back

March 27, 2009 at 5:24 pm (TV shows)

De miine, canalul american Nickelodeon difuzeaza primul sezon al unui nou serial animat, The Penguins of Madagascar. Sper ca si serialul va fi la fel de amuzant precum scenele pinguinilor din cele doua filme.
